We are children’s feet experts and care about their development. At ECCO Kids we help to enable children to develop freely and grow mentally and physically without any restrictions.

Development of your kid's feet:

  • 0-2 years: An infant’s foot is very soft and flexible. The arches and muscle are not yet fully developed.
  • 3-7 years: The arches are now beginning to develop, along with the muscles.
  • 8-12 years: The foot is still very pressure sensitive. The arches are almost fully developed giving the foot an adult-like shape.

The Rule of Thumb:

When buying your children’s shoes, always remember the Rule of Thumb. You should have 1.5 cm of space between the tip of the toe to the end of the shoe. This space allows for:

  • -0.5cm for walking extension
  • -0.8cm for the foot to grow over the months
  • -0.25cm is always taken up by the toe box

We suggest to get the feet measured every 2-3 months as that is approximately the growth rate.

Download our checklist which helps remind you to have your children’s shoes checked every 2 months. Use the monthly reminders and colour in each month once you have checked. You can also find the measurement tool here to download.
