A Shoe Adventure

I have been a big fan of Wendy's Lookbook on youtube, ever since the inspirational '25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 minutes' was launched. Now, Wendy has come up with the exciting concept of following the adventurous life of a shoe!

Mother's Day

As I write this post about Mother's Day, it seems poignant that I am expecting a baby tomorrow!  Less apt, perhaps, that my appearance is so far removed from our gorgeous models featured here!   But it's all part of the joy of motherhood I guess!

Mother's Day, or the traditional christian festival of 'Mothering Sunday' evolved from the 16th-century Christian practice of visiting one's mother church annually on Laetare Sunday.  As a result of this tradition, most mothers were reunited with their children on this day when young apprentices and young women in service were released by their masters for that weekend.  Subsequently, the influence of the American Mother's Day, transformed Mothering Day into the tradition of showing appreciation to one's mother.  In Great Britain,  Some Mothering Sunday traditions were revived, such as the tradition of eating cake on that day - celebrants now eat simnel cake - see this recipe from Delia Online.

So don't forget to show your appreciation to your Mum on Sunday the 10th March.  If you really want to treat her, we have a wonderful selection of women's shoes and sandals to put a spring into her step and get her looking forward to the approaching Summer season ahead!

Diary of an Editor

At the eccoshoesuk.com office, we love hearing stories about real women wearing our shoes and below we can hear a first-hand account of our Sculptured 65 range, brought to us by RED Online Editor, Lisa Helmanis:

9.00am:  RED HQ, Planning site content:                          

‘I arrive at the Red office early. After wading through a sea of emails, I'll gather the online team together for a planning meeting. It's so important that we're all in tune with what each other is working on - as well as the wider Red magazine team.'

                                                     

11.00am:  MEETING PR, Coffee at Copita, Soho:

‘I'm constantly dashing out to meet PRs representing various high street and designer brands. Exclusive stories, enticing reader offers and great ideas tend to emerge from having a great network of people in-the-know.  I tend to spend a lot of time on my feet, so these stylish yet comfortable ECCO boots are perfect.'

                                         

2.00pm:  Choosing pieces, Planning our next video, back at HQ:

‘Red Online's styling videos inspire you to make the trends of the season work for you. I work closely with our picture editor to discuss the kinds of pieces to include as well as how we can get the most out of the shoots.  With six styles to choose from, the ECCO Sculptured 65 range will merge beautifully with this season's key trends.'

                       

3.00pm:  On the Move:  Walking to Press Show

‘I'm off to a press show for a well known high street brand to get a preview of the new pieces hitting stores this autumn. This season's styles are really wearable; the berry colours and masculine shapes will definitely make it into my work wardrobe.  My work style is smart with a twist - I'm constantly on the move, so feeling comfortable is essential.'

                                                          

5.00pm:   Outfit Change:  My Formula for day to night style:

‘Very often I'll have an evening event to attend after work, so I'll ramp up my look with bold make-up and a statement necklace. Little tweaks like these make all the difference, especially if you're going for top to toe black.  ECCO's Sculptured 65 heeled pumps are so versatile - they'll look just as good teamed with skinny jeans as they will with dressier styles.'

                                

6.00pm:  "Taxi!"  Restaurant launch:

‘Time to jump in a cab - tonight I'm off to the launch of a new London restaurant, then I'm heading straight to a boutique hotel, which I'll review for Red's Travel channel. The shoes are holding up well - my feet feel comfortable, despite all the rushing around.  A nice way to round up a busy day.'

Race For Life

     

The 5km Race For Life took place in Taunton today, and at eccoshoesuk.com we think us ladies should join forces (perhaps in our Biom Train or Biom Lite shoes?) to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

 

Every two minutes, someone in the UK is told they have cancer.  Join the biggest fight against cancer and raise money to help more people survive.  There are over 240 Race for Life events across the UK and you can enter one near you here.

Anyone for golf?
